New Grants for Calderdale Farmers

19th May 2022 News

A new round of grants available to Calderdale farmers and landowners to implement natural flood management upon their land will be launched on Friday 27th of May 2022.

Over 30 projects have been funded in previous rounds of this grant scheme managed by Calderdale Council and supported by the Environment Agency. Landowners have created a range of NFM works from attenuation basins (dry ponds that temporarily fill when it rains) to the thinning of woodlands which can help slow water flowing overland by allowing light to reach the woodland floor so new vegetation can grow.

Assistance will be available to landowners to help select the best interventions for their land and help to apply if required. The grants cover engineering fees where required and items such as fencing and gates. Furthermore, payments are offered to landowners to maintain their projects into the future.

More details will be available on the Eye on Calderdale website on Friday 27th May Flooding in Calderdale – Eye on Calderdale.
